Remembering Pastor Joe Vargo 11/13/43 - 8/14/15
In our genuine affection for Pastor Joe, we would like to honor his Godly legacy. Pastor Joe not only was a blessing to this local body of believers. The Fruit of the Spirit in him also had far reaching effect in the community at large. He lived a life that exemplified Romans 12:1-2.
Pastor Joe allowed the Word of God to transform his thinking which in turn changed the man that he was.
As he matured in Christ throughout his 30 years of service to our Lord and His church, Pastor Joe was entrusted with several ministry assignments. In the power of the Holy Spirit, Pastor Joe preached the saving message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to those in prison. He visited the sick, performed pre-marital counseling, weddings, and funerals. He led Bible studies that taught men to live surrendered lives for God, to be true Sons of the Master. His desire was to see young and old come to the saving knowledge of Jesus, and to know the joy of serving God wholly and completely.
Pastor Joe would be the first to confess that he wasn't perfect; but, forgetting what is behind and straining toward to what is ahead, he pressed on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of him. Pastor Joe is not an example of the efforts of a man living by his own strength but instead a testimony to the grace of God who works wonders in the lives of all who believe in His Son Jesus. He was empowered daily by The Holy Spirit to walk the walk and not just talk the talk. When he faced difficulties, he reminded himself of God's goodness, faithfulness and sovereignty. The beauty of Pastor Joe's life is that it's the kind of life God wants for all His children.
Thanks Pastor Joe, we will miss you.
